About 25% Dextrose Infant
25% Dextrose Injection, USP is a sterile, hypertonic solution of glucose in water that is administered by injection to treat acute symptomatic hypoglycemia in neonates and infants. This condition occurs when a child’s blood sugar levels fall below a safe range, which can lead to serious neurological or metabolic complications if left untreated. Because infants have limited glycogen stores and high glucose requirements, this concentrated solution allows healthcare providers to quickly elevate blood sugar levels without administering excessive amounts of fluid.
