About Acyclovir suspension
What is this medication? Acyclovir suspension is an antiviral liquid medication used to treat infections caused by specific types of viruses. It belongs to a class of drugs known as antivirals and works by slowing the growth and spread of the herpes virus in the body. While it does not cure these infections, it helps the body fight the virus and reduces the severity and duration of outbreaks. This medication is commonly prescribed to treat initial and recurrent episodes of genital herpes, cold sores, and shingles. It is also used to treat chickenpox, particularly in children or individuals with weakened immune systems. By reducing pain and itching and helping sores heal faster, it prevents new sores from forming and decreases the risk of the virus spreading to other parts of the body.
