About ALTAVERA

What is this medication? Altavera is a combined oral contraceptive pill used primarily to prevent pregnancy. It contains two female hormones, levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol, which work together to inhibit the release of an egg from the ovaries during the menstrual cycle. Additionally, this medication causes changes in the cervical mucus and uterine lining, making it more difficult for sperm to reach an egg or for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus. Beyond its use as a birth control method, healthcare providers may prescribe Altavera for other hormonal purposes. It can help regulate menstrual cycles, decrease blood loss, and minimize painful cramping. Some individuals also use it to treat moderate acne or to manage certain hormonal imbalances. To ensure maximum effectiveness in preventing unintended pregnancy, it is important to take the medication at the same time every day as directed by a healthcare professional.
