About BETASEPT

What is this medication? Betasept is an antiseptic skin cleanser that contains chlorhexidine gluconate as its active ingredient. This medication is primarily used by healthcare professionals and patients to reduce the number of bacteria on the skin before surgical procedures or injections. It serves as an effective surgical hand scrub and a preoperative skin preparation tool to help minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections.

In addition to clinical preparation, this solution is used for general skin cleansing and to help prevent infection in minor cuts, scrapes, or burns. The medication works by binding to the skin and providing long-lasting antimicrobial activity, which helps kill a broad spectrum of germs and inhibits their regrowth for several hours after application. It is strictly for external use and should be kept away from the eyes, ears, and internal areas of the body.
