About Carbon Dioxide Air

What is this medication? Carbon Dioxide is a medical gas used primarily during surgical procedures and diagnostic tests. One of its most common applications is in laparoscopic or endoscopic surgeries, where it is used to inflate the body cavity, such as the abdomen. This process, known as insufflation, creates a working space for surgeons and provides better visibility of the internal organs. Because carbon dioxide is easily absorbed by the body and expelled through the lungs, it is considered a safe and effective medium for this purpose. Beyond its use in surgery, carbon dioxide is also utilized as a respiratory stimulant to help patients manage certain breathing conditions or to restart breathing after a period of apnea. It may be administered in specific concentrations mixed with oxygen to encourage deep breathing or to facilitate clinical assessments of lung function. Additionally, medical-grade carbon dioxide is used in cryotherapy to freeze and remove abnormal tissues and as a specialized gas for calibrating medical equipment and blood gas analyzers in laboratory environments.
