About Doptelet Sprinkle, DOPTELET

Doptelet is a prescription medication used to increase the number of platelets in adults who have a condition called thrombocytopenia. One primary use is for individuals with chronic liver disease who are planning to undergo a medical or dental procedure. By raising the platelet count, the medication helps to reduce the risk of excessive bleeding during and after these scheduled procedures, providing a temporary boost to the body's clotting ability. This medication is also approved for the treatment of chronic immune thrombocytopenia, or ITP, in adults who have not responded adequately to other treatments. It functions as a thrombopoietin receptor agonist, which means it stimulates the bone marrow to produce more platelets naturally. Whether used for a short course before a surgery or for ongoing management of ITP, it helps ensure that platelet levels remain in a safer range to prevent spontaneous or injury-related bleeding.
