About JASCAYD
What is this medication? Suboxone is a prescription medicine used to treat adults who are dependent on opioid drugs, such as heroin or prescription pain relievers. It contains two active ingredients: buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine works as a partial opioid agonist to help reduce withdrawal symptoms and decrease cravings for other opioids. Naloxone is added as an opioid antagonist to help prevent misuse of the medication by causing withdrawal symptoms if the film is injected instead of used as directed. This medication is designed for use as part of a complete treatment plan that includes counseling and behavioral therapy. It is usually administered as a sublingual film that is placed under the tongue to dissolve. By stabilizing the brain chemistry of an individual, Suboxone helps them focus on their recovery and daily activities without the intense highs and lows associated with opioid addiction. It should only be taken exactly as prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional.
