About JAYPIRCA

What is this medication? Jaypirca, which contains the active ingredient pirtobrutinib, is a prescription medicine classified as a Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It is primarily used to treat adults with certain types of blood cancer, specifically mantle cell lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia or small lymphocytic lymphoma. This medication works by blocking a specific protein that helps cancer cells grow and multiply, which can help slow the progression of the disease.

This treatment is typically prescribed for patients whose cancer has returned or did not respond to previous therapies. Specifically, it is indicated for those who have already received at least two prior lines of systemic therapy, including another type of BTK inhibitor. Because Jaypirca is a non-covalent inhibitor, it can often remain effective even in patients who have developed resistance to earlier generations of similar medications.
