About OCUFLOX
What is this medication? Ocuflox is a prescription eye drop that contains the active ingredient ofloxacin, which belongs to a class of drugs known as fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It is primarily used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, such as bacterial conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye. This medication works by stopping the growth and replication of the specific bacteria causing the infection, which helps to eliminate symptoms like redness, irritation, and discharge.
In addition to treating conjunctivitis, Ocuflox is frequently prescribed for more serious conditions such as bacterial corneal ulcers. It is important to note that this medication is only effective against bacterial infections and will not work for eye issues caused by viruses, fungi, or parasites. To ensure the infection is fully resolved and to prevent the development of drug-resistant bacteria, patients should follow their doctors instructions carefully and complete the full course of treatment even if their eyes begin to feel better.
