About Pilocarpine Hydrochloride
Pilocarpine hydrochloride is a cholinergic agonist medication used to treat specific conditions affecting the eyes. In its ophthalmic form, it is primarily used to manage glaucoma or ocular hypertension by reducing the amount of fluid pressure inside the eye. It works by causing the pupil to constrict and opening the drainage channels within the eye, which allows excess fluid to leave. This action helps prevent optic nerve damage and vision loss associated with high intraocular pressure.
