About Ruxience
What is this medication? Ruxience is a prescription biological medication known as a monoclonal antibody. It is specifically designed as a biosimilar to the drug Rituxan, meaning it is highly similar and provides the same clinical effects. This medication works by targeting a specific protein called CD20, which is found on the surface of B-cells in the immune system. By attaching to these cells, Ruxience helps the immune system identify and destroy them, which is why it is primarily used to treat certain types of cancer, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. In addition to its use in treating blood cancers, Ruxience is used to treat rare blood vessel disorders known as granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis. By decreasing the number of B-cells, Ruxience helps to lower the body's immune response and control the underlying inflammation associated with these chronic conditions.
