About RYSTIGGO

What is this medication?

Rystiggo is a prescription medicine used to treat a chronic autoimmune condition called generalized myasthenia gravis in adults. It is specifically indicated for patients who test positive for certain antibodies, including those against the acetylcholine receptor or muscle-specific tyrosine kinase. The medication is designed to help improve muscle strength and reduce the physical limitations caused by the disease, which often affects breathing, swallowing, and limb movement.

The drug works as a neonatal Fc receptor blocker, which helps lower the levels of circulating immunoglobulin G antibodies in the body. By reducing these antibodies, Rystiggo prevents them from attacking the connections between nerves and muscles that are responsible for muscle contraction. It is administered by a healthcare professional as an infusion under the skin, typically given in treatment cycles that involve one dose per week for six weeks.
