About VIGAMOX
What is this medication? Vigamox is a prescription antibiotic eye drop primarily used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, which is commonly known as pink eye. It contains moxifloxacin, an active ingredient belonging to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics that works by stopping the growth of bacteria causing the infection. By eliminating these bacteria, the medication helps to relieve common symptoms such as redness, itching, and discharge in the affected eye.
This medication is intended for topical use and should be applied to the eye as directed by a healthcare professional. It is important for patients to finish the entire course of the prescription even if symptoms improve early to ensure the infection is fully cleared and to prevent the bacteria from becoming resistant to the drug. Vigamox is specifically designed for bacterial infections and is not effective against eye issues caused by viruses, fungi, or allergies.
