About Zydelig
What is this medication? Zydelig is a prescription medicine used to treat certain types of blood cancers, specifically chronic lymphocytic leukemia, follicular B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and small lymphocytic lymphoma. For chronic lymphocytic leukemia, it is typically used in combination with rituximab when the cancer has returned after previous treatment. For the other types of lymphoma, it is intended for patients whose disease has come back after receiving at least two other types of systemic therapy.
This drug works as a kinase inhibitor that targets a protein called PI3K delta, which plays a key role in the growth and survival of B-cells. By blocking this specific protein, the medication helps to prevent the cancer cells from multiplying and spreading. This targeted approach allows it to interfere with the signals that keep the malignant cells alive, providing a specialized treatment option for people with these specific forms of relapsed blood cancer.
