IMDELLTRA (AMG757)

What is this medication? IMDELLTRA, which is also referred to by its generic name tarlatamab-dlle, is a prescription medication used to treat adults with a type of lung cancer called extensive-stage small cell lung cancer. It is specifically intended for patients whose cancer has progressed or returned after they have already received platinum-based chemotherapy. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as bispecific T-cell engagers, which are designed to help the body's immune system identify and destroy cancer cells.

The drug works by acting as a bridge between the immune system and the tumor. It attaches to a protein called DLL3 that is commonly found on the surface of small cell lung cancer cells, while simultaneously binding to a protein called CD3 on T cells. By bringing these two cells into close contact, IMDELLTRA allows the immune system to recognize and kill the cancer cells. This mechanism provides a specialized treatment option for patients who have limited choices after initial therapy has failed.
