About Phesgo

What is this medication?

Phesgo is a prescription medication used for the treatment of adult patients with HER2-positive breast cancer. It is used in both early-stage breast cancer, often in combination with chemotherapy, and in cases where the cancer has metastasized to other parts of the body. The medication is a fixed-dose combination containing two monoclonal antibodies, pertuzumab and trastuzumab, along with hyaluronidase-zzxf, which is an enzyme that helps the body absorb the drugs when they are injected under the skin.

This medication is administered as a subcutaneous injection, typically into the thigh, which offers a faster delivery method compared to traditional intravenous infusions of the same drugs. By binding to the HER2 receptors found on the surface of certain cancer cells, Phesgo works to inhibit cell signaling and prevent the further growth of the tumor. Patients usually receive this treatment in a clinical setting under the supervision of a healthcare professional who monitors for any potential side effects or reactions.
