About TAGRISSO
What is this medication?
Tagrisso is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer that has specific types of abnormal epidermal growth factor receptor genes. It is often prescribed as an adjuvant treatment after a tumor has been removed by surgery to help prevent the cancer from returning. It is also used as a first-line treatment when the cancer has spread to other parts of the body or has progressed after other therapies.
This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of certain proteins that signal cancer cells to grow and divide, thereby slowing or stopping the progression of the disease. Before starting treatment, a healthcare provider will perform a diagnostic test to ensure the patient has the specific genetic mutations that the medication is designed to target.
