About TECENTRIQ

What is this medication? Tecentriq is a prescription immunotherapy medication, also known by its generic name atezolizumab, that helps the immune system fight cancer. It belongs to a class of drugs called PD-L1 inhibitors. By blocking the PD-L1 protein found on some cancer cells and immune cells, it prevents those cells from hiding from the immune system, thereby allowing the body to recognize and attack the cancer more effectively.

This medication is approved for the treatment of several different types of advanced cancers. It is frequently used for non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer, often when the cancer has spread or returned after other treatments. It is also used to treat specific types of liver cancer, melanoma, and a rare soft tissue cancer known as alveolar soft part sarcoma. The treatment is typically delivered as an intravenous infusion by a medical professional in a clinical setting.
