About UPTRAVI, UPTRAVI Titration Pack
What is this medication? Uptravi and the Uptravi Titration Pack are prescribed to treat adults with pulmonary arterial hypertension, which is a chronic condition involving high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. The medication belongs to a class of drugs called selective IP prostacyclin receptor agonists. It functions by mimicking the effects of prostacyclin to help dilate the blood vessels in the lungs, which improves blood flow and reduces the workload on the heart. The primary goal of this treatment is to delay the progression of the disease and lower the risk of being hospitalized for pulmonary arterial hypertension symptoms.
The Uptravi Titration Pack is used during the initial phase of treatment to help a patient safely reach their optimal maintenance dose. Because this medication can cause side effects as the body adjusts, the titration pack provides a structured way to increase the dosage slowly over a period of weeks. This step-by-step approach allows the healthcare provider to determine the highest dose that the patient can comfortably tolerate. Once the most effective dose is established, the patient moves from the titration pack to a regular maintenance schedule to continue their therapy.
