About ZYPITAMAG

What is this medication? Zypitamag is a prescription medication known as a statin, which belongs to a class of drugs called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. It contains the active ingredient pitavastatin magnesium and is primarily prescribed to help manage cholesterol levels in adults. By slowing the production of cholesterol in the liver, it helps to lower the amount of low-density lipoprotein, often referred to as bad cholesterol, circulating in the bloodstream.

This medication is specifically used to treat primary hyperlipidemia and mixed dyslipidemia when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient. In addition to reducing bad cholesterol, Zypitamag can help lower total cholesterol and triglycerides while potentially increasing high-density lipoprotein, or good cholesterol. It is intended to be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes a heart-healthy diet to reduce the long-term risk of cardiovascular complications.
