About Rhopressa
What is this medication?
Rhopressa is a prescription eye drop primarily used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure in patients diagnosed with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The medication contains the active ingredient netarsudil, which is classified as a Rho kinase inhibitor. It functions by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor through the trabecular meshwork, which is the main drainage pathway of the eye.
Lowering internal eye pressure is essential for protecting the optic nerve and preventing the progression of vision loss associated with glaucoma. Rhopressa is generally prescribed for use once every day, usually in the evening. Patients using this medication might experience common side effects such as redness in the whites of the eyes, localized irritation, or the development of small deposits on the front surface of the eye.
