About Cortisporin TC
What is this medication? Cortisporin TC is a prescription ear medication used to treat bacterial infections of the outer ear canal, often referred to as swimmer's ear. It is a combination product that contains two antibiotics, neomycin and colistin, which work together to eliminate various types of bacteria. Additionally, it contains hydrocortisone, a corticosteroid that helps reduce swelling, redness, and itching, as well as thonzonium bromide, which helps the medication spread evenly throughout the ear canal.
This medication is specifically designed for otic use and is effective against infections caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms. By addressing both the underlying infection and the physical symptoms of inflammation, it provides relief from the pain and discomfort associated with acute otitis externa. It may also be prescribed to treat infections occurring after certain ear surgeries, such as mastoidectomy or fenestration procedures.
