About Sodium Sulfacetamide 10 Sulfur 2 Cleanser

What is this medication? Sodium Sulfacetamide 10 percent and Sulfur 2 percent cleanser is a prescription topical medication primarily used to treat skin conditions such as acne vulgaris, rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis. This dual-action formula contains an antibiotic called sodium sulfacetamide, which works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria that cause skin infections and inflammation. The second active ingredient, sulfur, acts as a keratolytic agent to help soften and remove the outer layer of the skin, preventing pores from becoming clogged with oil and dead cells. In addition to its antibacterial properties, the cleanser helps reduce the redness, scaling, and oiliness often associated with chronic skin issues. Patients typically use the product as a daily wash, applying it to the affected areas and rinsing thoroughly with water as directed by their healthcare provider. By combining these two ingredients, the medication effectively addresses both the underlying bacterial causes of skin irritation and the physical buildup of skin cells that leads to breakouts and flaking.
