About Sodium Sulfacetamide 10 Sulfur 2 cream

What is this medication? Sodium sulfacetamide 10 percent and sulfur 2 percent cream is a prescription topical treatment used to manage various inflammatory skin conditions. It is most frequently prescribed for the treatment of acne vulgaris, acne rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis. The medication functions through the dual action of its active ingredients. Sodium sulfacetamide is a sulfonamide antibiotic that works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria on the skin, while sulfur acts as a keratolytic agent to help dry the skin, remove excess oil, and promote the shedding of dead skin cells. By combining these two components, the cream helps to reduce the redness, scaling, and pimples associated with chronic skin disorders. It is particularly effective at clearing blocked pores and calming the inflammation often seen with rosacea or the itchy, scaly patches caused by seborrheic dermatitis. Patients typically apply a thin layer to the affected areas once or several times a day as directed by their physician. Because it contains a sulfa-based ingredient, individuals with known allergies to sulfonamides should consult their doctor before using this product.
