About Urea Cream 40 Percent
What is this medication? Urea Cream 40 Percent is a high-potency prescription topical treatment classified as a keratolytic agent. It is primarily used to treat various skin conditions characterized by dry, rough, or thickened skin, such as psoriasis, eczema, corns, calluses, and ichthyosis. By increasing the moisture levels in the skin, the medication helps to dissolve the intercellular matrix of the outer skin layer, making it easier for dead skin cells to shed and for the underlying tissue to soften. In addition to its use on the skin, this medication is frequently prescribed to treat damaged, indrawn, or devitalized nails. When applied to the nail bed, it helps soften and gradually dissolve the nail plate, which can assist in the removal of infected or thickened nails without the need for invasive surgical procedures. Because it is a strong formulation, it should be applied specifically to the affected areas as directed by a healthcare provider to avoid irritating the surrounding healthy skin.
